Condition Notes — Good
Please review all detailed photos carefully — not every flaw may be captured in the condition notes below, and I'm glad to send additional photos on request.
Wear on this bag sits at the raised edges, straps, and corners — the places that take friction. The flat panels of the front, back and base hold their grain and color well; the gusset ridges, the strap edges and the flap edge have color loss. Part of this follows the design - depending on how you carry (straps inside or outside the flap) either the straps or the flap gets rubbed. On the straps, pale substrate shows through along the strap edges in bands, and more heavily where the straps enter the side ridges. The leather is intact — finish wear, not fiber damage. One side ridge has opened at its folded top edge, exposing the substrate inside (see photo). It holds under load and the strap is secure. Scratching and pigment loss along the raised gusset ridges. Pigment loss along the top edge of the flap. Edge wear on the corners. Light brown discoloration at interior gusset seams.
The leather-cased mirror is present but desilvering. The leather case is intact.
Holding up well: gold hardware bright and unpitted throughout, magnetic closure firm, zip running smoothly, tan leather lining clean, heat stamp crisp, and the bag holds its structure with no slump at the gussets.
This bag is a beautiful piece of history but probably not an everyday carry - besides being a rare 30 year old vintage bag it is also heavy!
